Our story, our promise

At the beginning of 2025, a last-minute detour to the Black Fortress during a family holiday in Armenia fundamentally changed our trajectory. A friendly stray dog, who we named Gilbert, approached us seeking affection. Despite being covered in ticks, his gentle demeanour motivated our family to bring him home to the UK.

With no established international charities active in that region, we spent two weeks searching for assistance until we connected with the LAR Team, a new animal protection organisation in Gyumri. Working together to arrange the necessary travel documents revealed the systemic financial barriers faced by local rescuers.

To address this, we secured dedicated premises in Armenia to help build a permanent shelter and sterilisation clinic. HyeTails was established as a registered UK charity to resolve the financial infrastructure challenges of international aid, creating a secure, cost-effective pipeline that empowers frontline rescuers to protect vulnerable street animals.

And as for Gilbert… he now resides with the LAR Team, and helps to onboard new residents to the shelter!
